Police Shoot Suspect After Stabbing and Hostage Situation in Bath Township

(Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Bath Township, Michigan — On July 12, 2025, at approximately 2:27 p.m., officers from the Bath Township Police Department responded to a trespassing call for service in the 6000 block of Heathfield Drive near Pine Hollow Drive. The initial caller stated that a suspicious individual was walking through yards and attempting to break into vehicles. The caller stated that the suspect entered a garage at a neighbor’s residence, and he was not seen again. Shortly after receiving this information, Central Dispatch received a second call from a resident in the 16000 of Nichols Road near Pine Hollow Drive. The caller advised dispatch that he had been stabbed by an unknown person who entered his home. Upon arrival, officers made an entry into the home on Nichols Road. Officers encountered the victim and suspect inside the residence. The suspect held the victim hostage with a knife to the victim’s throat. During the encounter, the suspect separated from the victim and fled out of a side door of the residence. The suspect was still in possession of the knife and began running from the scene. Officers on scene gave numerous orders for the suspect to stop, however he continued to run towards the Meadows neighborhood. Both officers on scene discharged their service weapons. The suspect gained access to a residence on English Oak Drive and locked the door behind him. Officers attempted to breach the door to the residence. The resident of the home heard the officers yelling and kicking the door. The resident came to the front door and made contact with the officers. The uninjured resident was removed and evacuated from the home. The resident did not know the suspect had entered the home. Shortly after gaining entry to the English Oak residence, the suspect fled from the residence and ran towards the next-door neighbor’s residence. One officer discharged his service weapon as the suspect entered the neighbor’s garage. Officers apprehended the suspect after a short struggle. A taser was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody. Officers on scene immediately rendered aid to the injured suspect and requested emergency medical services. All of the victims involved in this incident were treated on scene. The suspect was transported to UM Health – Sparrow Hospital, where they are currently listed as being in stable condition. No officers were injured during the incident.
