Wichita, Kansas, January 7, 2008 A man crashed his car early Monday through glass doors at Wichita City Hall and out the other side of the building, leaving the first-floor security area in shambles. No one was injured in the 12:37 a.m. incident. Marcus L. Johnson, 31, was charged with evading and eluding police, reckless driving and destruction of property. He surrendered inside the city's parking garage after emerging from his Lincoln Town Car. The incident damaged some of the $8 million in security enhancements that were part of a three-phase security upgrade at City Hall. Construction of the exterior security -- which would have prevented incidents such as this one -- was scheduled to begin this summer. The earlier phased enhancements had added security screening in the atrium area and included a remodel to add security surveillance. Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said the suspect was upset about personal problems, and earlier had threatened he was going to drive into City Hall. Police said he may have been angry about someone asking him to lower the volume of music playing in his car outside a convenience store. City officials said an officer on routine patrol confronted Johnson at 12:15 a.m. at a QuikTrip after he left his vehicle unoccupied at the gas pumps with loud music blaring He told the officer after he was getting to drive out that he was going to drive his car "into City Hall "
