In a thought-provoking talk, Nat Ware makes the case that charities have been put in a box for far too long. We have expectations of charities, he says, and these expectations constrain them. Nat is the Founder and CEO of 180 Degrees Consulting, which helps charities and social enterprises around the world to overcome challenges they're facing and to operate as effectively as possible (www.180dc.org). Nat is based at Oxford University, where his research focuses on international development, economics, and social entrepreneurship. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
