It's scarier when I wake up from an explosion, because when I know it's an alarm, I get ready and leave, and in principle it's hard, but we're safe. When I wake up from an explosion and grab my child first and run out, it's probably scarier than sitting in the metro station." 4. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Oleksandra Ymanets, 23, Kyiv resident: ++PART OVERLAID BY SHOTS 7, 8, 9++ "And then the evening comes. I pack my bag, put it by the exit, prepare the stroller, dress myself, the child, and you know that if not today, then tomorrow you will go to shelter because Russia will again throw missiles at you. When it’s about you — that’s one thing. But when it’s about your child, for what? This is my child. To kill him because he was born in Ukraine? He did not choose where to be born, he did not even choose me, let alone the country." 7. Wide of people sleeping at the metro station during Russian missile and drone attack 8. Wide of people sleeping at the metro station during Russian missile and drone attack STORYLINE: For 23-year-old Oleksandra Ymanets, seeking shelter in a Kyiv metro station each night has become routine. Ymanets, who has a 10-month-old son, says the shelter in the subway feels safer than her home at night as Russian missile and drone attacks continue to target the Ukrainian capital with little warning. Around 5 a.m., she usually leaves the shelter with her child, walks home, lies down to sleep and wakes up relieved to see her baby smiling. Then evening comes. She packs a bag, places it by the door, prepares the stroller and lays out clothes for herself and her baby. When the siren sounds again, she’s ready to hide. “When it’s about you — that’s one thing. But when it’s about your child, for what?” she said. “To kill him just for being born in Ukraine? He didn’t choose where to be born.” AP Video shot by Vasilisa Stepanenko =========================================================== Clients are reminded to adhere to all listed restrictions and to check the terms of their licence agreements.
