How to create an online refresher course in Thinkific

For example, CPR and First Aid students need to refresh their licence every 5 years. Sometimes this is more frequent. The purpose is that students don't have outdated information. They have the most up to date knowledge and skills they need for their job. Likewise, doctors, psychologists, teachers and pilots also need refresher courses. This is usually called Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Specific professions need to maintain their accreditation and must attend CPD sessions per year. But, platforms don't allow for a student to enrol on exactly the same course. Assume that a student record in your platform has a unique number and each course also has a unique number. The unique student number can only exist once the unique course number. As a result, it is common that platforms don't allow you to enrol the same student number into the same course number. So, the best way to manage this is to duplicate your course. Now your course has a new course number. You can make appropriate updates to the new course such as names, price, enrolment links and content. It is important that the content is up to date to ensure that content is current (not outdated). Also, this allows you to keep all the student's data from all courses their enrolled courses. This includes their progress, certificate issue, assignments, course expirations, surveys and quizzes. You can later filter your students based on this data to remind students of their refresher. You can then enrol the unique student number into the new course. Before you can enrol students, you need to publish your new course (it must be in a live status). There are two ways to enrol students (from Thinkific): 1. Send them a link to enrol from a landing page or course page 2. Manual enrolment You can find the student sign-up link in the pricing of the course (in Thinkific). Also, you can send a landing page or course page (from your website) or in the Site Builder in Thinkific. You can send students the link via a marketing platform. Or you can send it from your Learning Management Platform. This is how students will receive a link and signup, pay and enrol. In the users/student list, you can filter students to find those students that need to enrol in the course. This is why it is important to keep all the data. This makes it easy to find students who need to do the refresher course. The second method requires the filter to find the right students. Or, you can manually select students one by one (that will take a lot longer). Filters are a much better option. You then have the option to bulk enrol students. Note: this is useful for free courses.
