It is typically accompanied by pickled chopped onions, cabbage, and habanero peppers, and is comparable to empanadas. #Belizeanvibezlive #fishpanades #panades #BelizeanCuisine #belizefood #belizeanvibez Making Belizean Fish Panades Preparing Fish: 1 lb King Fish Steaks Season with salt and pepper 1 quart water 1/2 chopped onions 1 garlic clove 1/2 tsp dried oregano 1 Tsp Salt 2 Tbs vinegar 1 whole habanero pepper Boil Fish for 10 minutes with all seasonings listed Remove skin and bones from fish mince fish, add some recado seasoning paste, salt, pepper & oregano Sautee fish for 5 minutes in 1 tbs coconut oil and 2 tbs chopped onions Topping: Onion & Cabbage and Habanero pepper Finely chopped 1 onion, 1/2 cabbage and 1 habanero pepper, add 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 cup water and 1 tsp salt ** optional, pour hot water over onions for a couple minutes you can make onion and habanero only or mix cabbage and onions Masa (Corn Dough) 2 lbs Masa 1 Tsp Recado seasoning (soften w 1 Tbs warm water) 1/2 Tsp Salt Mix recado seasoning melted in water and salt into masa Roll into balls (approximately 20) Flatten masa balls between plastic sandwich ziplock using a tortilla press Add fish mixture, fold over and seal edges Set aside on parchment paper or towel make all 20 panades Heat oil in frying pan Fry panades on medium heat 3 - 4 minutes Drain on paper towel Serve hot. topped w onion/ cabbage sauce Enjoy Thanks for your continued support Belizeanvibez FB, IG, TikTok and Belizeanvibez.com.
