Cadair Idris or Penygadair, is the 19th highest mountain in Wales and one of the three mountains which make up the Welsh Three Peaks. Translated from Welsh to Idris chair, the mountain lies at the southern end of Snowdonia National Park and is shrouded in Welsh myth and legend . At 891m it may not be the highest mountain in Wales, but it’s a corker of a hike that certainly packs a punch. The route I have taken is the Minffordd path, which alongside being the shortest is (in my opinion) the most exciting way to reach the summit. The hike is 4.7km one way and involves 780m of elevation gain. The start point of the Hike is the Dol Idris Car Park - https://goo.gl/maps/i1TPA6gTjnj3qc5G9 Parking costs £3 for 4 hours, or £6 for 24 hours There are also toilets and tea rooms situated at the start point.
