New Garaventa Elvoron entrance elevator – Carnegie Library Main – N. Oakland, Pittsburgh, PA

Recorded 07/08/2023 In 2022-23, CLP did renovations and restorations on the main entrance of the Main Oakland Carnegie Library. During this, they removed a wheelchair lift (Garaventa Genesis installed by Marshall in 2004, which I haven't ridden since I was in a stroller, and that replaced an older portable worm-driven WCL from 1985), and replaced it with a LU/LA (or as they advertise it, "elevator style lift"), which is an upgrade compared to the wheelchair lift. It took a while for it to enter-service as it kept failing inspection. I wasn't here when it was like that but I bet that rope you see next to the elevator was to block this area off when the elevator wasn't running. This is a pretty nice upgrade, although I'm disappointed that they just chose a stainless steel cab. I was hoping they'd do some sort of wood cab to match other areas around it. The black trim looks nice though.
