Well it's been a while since I had a brilliant unexpected find like this! Found in a museum I visited on a whim, which I'm glad I did. We have a beautiful 1960's Shanks 'Remirol' low level, low height washdown pan (with a sloped top rim), paired with a matching 'Stylus' cistern. These were designed from a health point of view, as the low height of the pan, along with the slightly sloped rim, is said to help with thorough evactuation of the bowels. It was partly designed by a gentleman called Mr. Robert Lorimer (who chiefly was an architect by trade), hence the model name Remirol being his surname in reverse. It is a very cool design, and the trapway of this generation is very similar to that of the bulb trap syphonic 'Orma'. It has a brilliant flush in spite of all the cistern guts being replaced, Opella syphons seem to often perform very well in my experience. The cistern is a 3gal version however the short flush hole in the syphon is unplugged meaning it flushes just slightly over 2gals by my estimation.
