As we explore Rovinj’s narrow passageways, we slowly ascend toward St. Euphemia’s Church (Crkva sv. Eufemija) - a Baroque masterpiece built in 1736 and home to precious art, relics, and the legendary sarcophagus of Saint Euphemia. Its 60-meter bell tower, inspired by St. Mark’s in Venice, stands proudly above the town with a bronze statue of the saint acting as a wind vane. From there, we descend through charming stone streets filled with local art galleries, a reminder of Rovinj’s long-standing role as a cultural haven for artists. The path eventually leads us past the local market and to the Memorial to the Victims of Fascist Terror (Spomenik žrtvama fašističkog terora) - a solemn pause that honours Rovinj’s modern history. Our walk ends on a peaceful seaside promenade overlooking the northern side of Rovinj’s old town - an unforgettable view of stone homes rising directly from the Adriatic.
