Vitrectomy for Subsilicon oil globule removal This is a case of re Retinal detachment with PVR under silicon oil in which a sub retinal silicon oil globule was noted inferiorly along with retinal contraction.In this case we first removed the silicon oil in the vitreous cavity and then assessed the situation. Perfluorocarbon liquid was injected posteriorly to stabilise the posterior pole as well as gradually push the sub retinal silicon oil globule passively from the subretinal space. The globule glides out after the push from PFCL. After that the inferior contraction is assessed and a retinectomy is planned to release and relax the retina. Once the retina is flat under pfcl, endolaser is done and its treated like a giant retinal tear.
