The all-new Mercedes‑Benz CLA 250+ marks a major shift in Mercedes-Benz’s compact luxury lineup, bringing cutting-edge EV technology to the CLA badge. Built on a new dedicated electric architecture, it combines sleek coupe-like styling with impressive efficiency and long-distance capability. In this first drive review, we explore what the CLA 250+ feels like on the road — from its performance and ride quality to the overall driving experience. The car is powered by an 85.5 kWh battery paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing around 272 hp, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in about 6.7 seconds. What truly stands out, however, is its efficiency and range. Mercedes claims a remarkable WLTP range of up to 792 km, making it one of the longest-range EVs in its segment. The CLA 250+ also features an 800-volt electrical architecture, allowing ultra-fast charging of up to 240 kW. Under ideal conditions, that means you can add around 400 km of range in roughly 20 minutes, making long-distance travel far more convenient. Adding to the technical sophistication is a two-speed transmission, something rarely seen in EVs. The first gear improves acceleration, while the second gear helps maximise efficiency and cruising range at highway speeds.
