Ohio Bans Intoxicating delta-8 THC Hemp Drinks And Gummies

Ohio has taken a significant step in regulating the hemp industry by banning intoxicating hemp products with psychoactive ingredients, like delta-8 THC and THC-A that are found in hemp drinks and gummies. Gov. Mike DeWine signed an executive order this week that creates a pause short-term on sales of a slew of unregulated products containing cannabinoid derivatives, like those with delta-8 THC and THC-A. Three businesses affiliated with the hemp industry, including Ohio smoke stores and manufacturers, filed a lawsuit the next day challenging the ban. The retailers argue DeWine acted outside his authorities as governor when he signed the executive order. We’ll also look at the latest speculation that former Congressman Tim Ryan will run for Ohio governor. That would setup a Democratic primary between Ryan and former Ohio health director Dr. Amy Acton to face Republican Vivek Ramasamy in the 2026 November election.
