In the 1880s, Crown King was a booming gold mining town high in Arizona’s Bradshaw Mountains. Like most mining towns, it should have faded into history. But it didn’t. Today, more than 100 people still live here, year-round, in one of Arizona’s last true “living” ghost towns. In this video, I spent time with the people who call Crown King home: longtime residents, former miners, business owners, and families who’ve chosen to stay in a place most people think is abandoned. What keeps them here? What’s daily life really like? And what does it mean to live in a town that refuses to disappear?
