In this video, I demonstrate how you can naturally dye clothes with coffee. When a shirt becomes old with stains it can be easy to throw it out and it's no secret that this waste is bad for the environment. Instead, we encourage you to get creative in the kitchen and upcycle your clothes with natural foods. We recently naturally dyed a T-shirt with turmeric and the results were incredible. Whilst the results with coffee were not the best it was still worth the fun and we will continue experimenting with many other foods to see which wonderful colours we can come up with. The process starts by firstly immersing the clothing item in hot salty water, then it is left to soak for 1 hour. Meanwhile, I prepared 1 cup of instant coffee and water in a saucepan and cooked it for one hour. After that, I removed the shirt and squeezed out the salty water. Then I put the shirt into the pan with the coffee and let it simmer for one hour. Then I turned the heat off to soak overnight. In the morning I squeezed out the excess coffee dye and rinsed the shirt in warm water. Finally, I washed it alone in the washing machine to avoid it staining any other items of clothing.
