Today we'll take a look at a Tektronix scope with a multimeter piggybacked on the top of it. The scope works pretty well with only a minor issue, but the meter has a major problem that needs fixing. Follow along as I troubleshoot with the accuracy of a four year old playing pinball for the first time, but eventually the seat of the problem is uncovered and turns out to be a relatively simple repair. I enjoyed this repair probably more than any previous successes I've had, for several reasons, number one being that it was a successful repair, number two is that I'm excited to have this amazing scope in fully functional condition in service on my bench, number three, I learned a lot about both the scope and electronics in the process. The 465 scopes are still some relevant pieces of test equipment even in today's world of digital scopes, and many times those that are sold "broken or for parts" may have issues that are simple as this one. By no means is this scope 100% functioning yet, but I have a couple projects on the bench I would like to get finished up before we revisit the unstable readings and replace that trigger pot, including a multimeter from an era that makes this 1980ish 465B look like a youngster, but will bring a smile to many a HAM radio enthusiast's face, so stay tuned for those videos in the near future! As always, be safe, and if you try this stuff, you do so at your own risk. If you try this, don't be scared to screw up, I do it all the time, and it doesn't suck as much as you think. Plus you learn a lot more that much.
