Review of the concert: Music Lovers April 2025: Bellsonance Duo This young, but superbly talented and accomplished brother and sister duo presented a superb program of sparkling gems. Amalia, singer and flautist, was accompanied on the piano by her brother Artemii. They are both studying as underage students at Queensland Conservatorium, Artemii as a scholarship student and already on the committee of the Accompanist Quild of Queensland at such a young age. They are seasoned performers, having performed at Brisbane Parliament and at the Lord Mayor’s City Hall concerts amongst others. Amalia’s love of performance and her innate musicality is apparent in her seemingly effortless rendering of both Classical and light music pieces with appropriate expression and articulation. She was accompanied by Artemii with much skill and sensitivity. Their Classical repertoire, amongst others, included a Mozart motet, lieder by Schubert and Wolf and an unknown song by composer Vlasov. I particularly enjoyed her lieder as she portrayed the essence of each song with great expression. Artemii is a most accomplished solo pianist, playing challenging repertoire by Chopin and Rachmaninov with ease. I would love to hear the Rachmaninov on a grand piano! Both siblings are also notable composers. Amalia delighted us with her piece for flute and piano. The jazzy rhythms and fluctuating time signatures and contrasting moods of her piece were most engaging and pleasing. I look forward to their performance at the Lord Mayor’s City Hall concert on October 14th presenting a showcase of their talents. Anne Jacobson, Kenmore Church
