This is a run down of a beautiful new addition to my plant collection. The Egyptian Purple lotus ( which is actually a Nymphaea or lily species ) which is closely related to the notoriously psychoactive , sedating and purportedly hallucinogenic blue lotus. Both of which contain the psychoactive alkaloid of aporphine , which is illegal in several European nations like Russia, Poland and Latvia.   / somainkdesigns   Nymphaea Micrantha, a beautiful African water lily with blue and purple hues painted over a soft white. It also has incredible leaves or lily pads with the dye or marbled patterns of red, purple, green and pink. This lily has been a medicinal blue lily or sometimes refered to "Egyptian blue lotus" , and was even believed to be an aphrodisiac and purported to be a mildly hallucinogenic ingredient in Egyptian priest's medicines. known as a medieval and Roman era Perfume, as well as aphrodisiac, it was only recently confirmed how this plant intoxicated people throughout history, from Ra the mythical sun god, to Lotophagi in Homer's Epic Poem " The Oddesey ", right through into today's rave and "hippie" subcultures as well as in alternative medicine practices.
