Rajdeep Kaur, a US citizen originally from Punjab, was allegedly murdered by her in-laws in Kapurthala's Nano Mallian village, a media report said. The murder of the 32-year-old NRI took place on the night of January 19, and the police suspect the motive was to claim her hefty life insurance money. Rajdeep, a mother of a five-year-old boy, arrived in Kapurthala on January 12. She was brought to India on the pretext of a relative's wedding. Her in-laws, Daljit Kaur and Jagdev Singh, were arrested by Sultanpur Lodhi police for alleged complicity in the crime. Furthermore, Rajdeep's husband, Manjinder Singh, who is still in the US, has been charged in connection with the murder case.
