A short trip to the Swanage Railway, for the Spring Steam Gala. With the price of coal increasing dramatically over the years, steam galas have become all the rarer. However, this didn’t deter the Swanage Railway from having an intensive spring steam gala. Visitors include 4593 ‘Pitchford Hall’ and Ivatt Class 2 41313, LSWR T3 563, U Class 31806, 34070 ‘Manston’, and 34072 ‘257 Squadron’. Delays are not uncommon at Swanage gala days; trains ran nearly an hour behind time from the start of the day due to a lineside fire at Harmans Cross.
