Locking out RENAULT Zoe HV Connector

Hi all, I have done this video to show you how you can lockout your Renault Zoe step by step. These are some reasons you may want/need to totally kill power (12v & 380v DC) power on your Zoe: 1.) Radio malfunctions and cannot restart even with 5 presses of the home button. 2.) TCU (connectivity of the car shows no signal or connectivity is lost from phone app to car) 3.) Sat Nav features stop working 4.) Unusual messages on Dash like "Charge impossible" - "Check Plug" - "Motor failure" etc that wont clear 5.) Odd quirky features where an ECU setting has become corrupt and the ECU needs a total disconnection of power to clear it. 6.) Change the 12v battery under the bonnet (hood) 7.) Zoe refuses to start or move. I am not saying this will cure all faults and glitches but its a good place to start if other things do not work. Renault main dealers can charge in excess of £100 just to clear faults or check for faults , and this is just a check , not actual repair, they charge that regardless. anything electrical/electronic glitches from time to time - Car's ECU (electronic control units) are no different. Some times just undoing the negative post on the 12v battery under the bonnet is not good enough to clear temporary faults. Sometime the electronics in the car need a TOTAL disconnection of power to 'reset' them , because of the nature of the ZOE EV when you just take off the negative terminal on the 12v battery power is still supplied to the 12v electrical system of the car by means of the 380vDC Traction battery (under the car) and the 380v DC power gets converted to 12v DC (to charge the 12v battery) and keep the 12v system and computers alive so by just removing the 12v battery terminals the system is still being kept alive by the DC-DC converter on the car. If you are viewing this video for education purposes all well and good - but if you have arrived at this youtube video because you have a fault on the car and you feel like having a go and repairing it yourself please take absolute care and perform the steps in this video very carefully and know the potential risks of electrocution, explosion, burns and sparks because you will be touching areas of very high voltage (Orange area's on the Zoe contain very high voltages of 380v DC and more ) so it goes without saying anything you do in this video you do at your own risk , and please dont attempt to do anything in this video if you are not comfortable with these kind of things, if that is the case please leave your car into a competent garage or Renault main dealer service centre. OK a bit about the Orange disconnector underneath the drivers mat on the Renault Zoe (RHD) : The connector has not be designed for the end user/owner of the car to touch at all. It is there primarily for the Emergency Services to use (say if car on fire in a crash or the High Voltage power has to be cut when a car is in a crash) and also for Renault service centre to operate when carrying out certain service parts on the ZOE car (changing brake fluid, changing coolant, performing repairs on the motor etc_) in fact in the manual for servicing it states that anyone locking out or working on the HV system (orange parts of the car) must wear protective PPE which includes rubber gloves, eye protection and other protection for up to 500v DC protection when working on any high voltage area's of the car and this includes the HV disconnection switch system under the Drivers mat inside the car . So, (if the service guys are doing things to the book) they have to get dressed up in PPE, gloves, eye protection even before touching that switch under the drivers mat - I know in the video I am disconnecting the switch with bare hands and no protection I will let you decide if I am living dangerously , I have had my Zoe for well over a year now and have disconnected the switch many times personally and foolishly (maybe) that there is always a risk one day where I might not be so lucky , anything could go wrong I suppose at any time. - incidentally, built into this device/switch is some protection , there are 2 tiny pins along with the very large 380v DC terminals. These 2 tiny pins are shorter than the large terminals so as you lock out this switch the 2 pins break the circuit first (and thus the high voltage terminals , so to help prevent sparks and damage to the socket etc) Further notes: (I've never had to) but you might find on reconnection that the r-link radio asks for an antitheft code , you can get in the back of your owners manual or my renault app. - Please note doing any of these steps may invalidate any warranties I hope you enjoy this video & if it has helped you in any way it would be great (only if you feel like it) if you want to donate anything at all please donate here all donations are gratefully received and who knows if I get enough donations I might be able to afford to buy a car vac or Valet for the next video LOL https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/andyf...
