Wide shot of crowd getting up and clapping STORYLINE: Amnesty International activists gathered at the Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris on Tuesday to protest against America's continued use of capital punishment. The demonstration was held to commemorate the day the US re-introduced the death penalty in 1976. Some 400 people, dressed in black, took part in the silent demonstration. Activists wearing the names of prisoners, who have been executed in America since 1976, lay on the floor wearing white masks as those names were read out to the crowd.
