Marco Island South Beach, beautiful place to go to the beach and a great place to fish. Marco island you can fish for Snook, Red and Black Drum, Spotted Sea Trout, Shark, Snapper, Grouper, Crevalle Jack, and the same old catfish. You can even find some amazing sea life. The snook at South Beach would not take the bait but they swam next to you in order to tease. Trying to catch a shark on a mono lead does not work well and I will have to upgrade to a metal lead. Captain W. D. "Bill" Collier of Tennessee settled Marco island in 1870 creating clamming and fishing industries. He also built the "Olde Marco Inn on Palm Street in 1883. The Inna now serves as a popular restaurant and registration area for Olde Marco Island Inn & Suites. During the 1920 a railroad was built between the island and the mainland in which visitors from Miami used to travel to visit Marco Island's Crescent Beach.
