If your Mustang is experiencing cooling issues, the cooling clutch fan may be the culprit. A failing fan clutch can lead to overheating, so replacing it is a smart move. To check its condition, try spinning the fan blades while the engine is off—if they spin freely, the clutch likely isn’t engaging; if they don’t spin at all, it may be stuck fully engaged, putting strain on your motor. To install a new fan, start by removing the bolts connecting the clutch fan to the water pump, then take out the two top shroud bolts. Lift the shroud enough to remove the fan, disassemble the original setup, and attach the new clutch to the new fan. Reinstall the fan into the engine bay, secure the shroud and fan bolts, and you’re done in about 30 minutes.
