In this math video we will review how to add scientific notation. We will begin by understanding that in order to add values in scientific notation the powers of both values MUST have the same exponent. We will identify that the given values have powers with different exponents. We will rewrite one value so that they both have the same exponent. To rewrite, we will increase the exponent by one which means we will decrease the factor by 10 moving the decimal point one digit to the left. Once both values have the same power, we will add the factors and keep the power. We will identify the correct solution. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.
