You can skip this step if you are working with unglazed ceramic. (0:21) Step 2 - Wipe down your surface with rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth. (0:29) Step 3 - You can use glass paint pens to draw on your designs. Or, use synthetic brushes and acrylic enamel paints to paint on your object. (0:52) Step 4 - When layering colors onto an object, always be sure to let the first coat dry before applying the next coat. (1:01) Step 5 - Place the ceramic piece in a completely cool oven. Set the temperature for 350 degrees and allow the piece to bake for 30 minutes. Turn the oven off without opening it, and let the piece cool in the oven for 30 minutes before removing. Remember that sudden changes in temperature can crack or shatter ceramic. (1:13) Step 6 - Remember to always hand wash your creations. Most craft paints are only suitable for decorative purposes and are not food safe. It's best to paint on the outside of ceramic surfaces, where food will not touch.
