Hello! Have you ever had a Honey Brick Toast before? Also known as the Shibuya Honey Toast. Have you even seen it before? It was my daughters birthday a few days ago and I've been debating for a month whether I should make her birthday cake or if I should just buy one directly. I looked up a few recipes and most of the recipes called for cake flour, which I don't have. Also my previous experiences, the girls don't seem to like eating cakes so much. They get excited to see it, have a couple of bites, and that's it :p I was just about to order a cake when my husband suggested making the Honey Brick Toast. I've made the Honey Brick Toasts before and it was always a hit. To start, you need to make the bread. Ingredients: 200g water 30g sugar 3g salt 300g flour 2.8g yeast 30g butter Put everything in the bread machine in the order that I listed the ingredients. Select a bread function that's approx 4 hours and start! That's it! I wanted my honey brick toast to have straight edges so I took out the dough after first proof, shaped and put it in a loaf pan with lid for second proof and baking. After the bread is done baking (bread machine or oven) take the bread out immediately and let it cool on a rack. It will take about 1-2 hours to completely cool. Once it's cooled, you can cut it. It's hard to instruct on cutting, so please watch my video on how I cut it and how to hollow the bread. After that, brush butter and sprinkle sugar to all the bread pieces and the hollowed out brick. Toast them until they are slightly golden and crispy on the edges. Assemble the brick toast back together and drizzle honey all over it. Scoop on your favourite ice cream and fruit toppings and voila! Enjoy your Honey Brick Toast!
