Good Friday is the one day in the year that no Masses are celebrated. In remembrance of Jesus’ suffering and death on the Cross, Catholics gather for a Communion service and to Venerate the Holy Cross. During the solemn liturgy, the Lord’s passion from the Gospel of John will be proclaimed and a special prayer will be dedicated to the catechumens or brothers and sisters who will be baptized and welcome into the Church on Easter Vigil.
