I first visited Melton Reservoir in April last year and a few minutes into my first flight, managed to lodge my drone in a tree on an island (see my video of the recovery:    • Drone recovery - from tree, on island, in ...  ). I never obtained the footage I wanted of the reservoir, but my negative experience of the place deterred me from returning. Ten months later I'm glad I finally got back there, because the railway bridge and those reflections are just fantastic. The reservoir is narrow and long, formed by the damming of a natural gorge along the Werribee River. The embankment wall (not filmed) is about 5 km downstream of the railway viaduct, with the gorge flooding upstream of the viaduct for another three to five kilometres, depending on the water level.
