I Historia put i Hinanao i Taotao Tåno’ | CHamoru Indigenous Historiography This program, inspired by Dr. Laura M. Torres Souder’s presentation at the International Indigenous Youth Forum, explores CHamoru history through the lens of indigenous historiography and revisionism. By centering the wisdom, lived experiences, and language of the Taotao Tåno’, I Historia put i Hinanao i Taotao Tåno’ challenges conventional portrayals of Guam’s past and reclaims history as an act of cultural sovereignty. Part of the “Lumåla i Estoriå-ta: History Comes Alive” celebration, this program affirms CHamoru resilience and invites the community to reconnect with the insight (måta) of our ancestors.
