It was the afternoon of Friday, 13 March 2020. I’d just got home with the last quarantine supplies we needed. We felt so safe. So provided for. We were going to ride out the storm creating content from our studio to help others. The60SecondChef.com had suddenly become more relevant than ever. As a gap in the rain appeared outside, we decided to go for a hike. When we reached the top of the mountain across the valley from our house we looked into the distance and saw a house on fire. It was our house. By the time we got back it was too late. The fire took everything we owned except the clothes we were wearing. Nothing survived. Except us. We survived. And out of the rubble of the fire we found the beauty hidden inside the catastrophe. A new beginning, the love and kindness of strangers and friends alike and a connection to the truth: that in the darkest moments we humans have a capacity for hope and resilience that will see us through anything.
