"A Clash of Styles" There are so many interesting things about the second Mega Man Game Boy game. First, it's the only one of them to not be made by Minakuchi Engineering as Japan System House (or Biox) handled this. It's also a very swift sequel. In Japan, the gap was five months. In America, it was even faster. Just two months separated Dr. Wily's Revenge in December 1991 to MMII's release in February 1992. Wow! We start things off right where we did in our old 2009 run because there really isn't a better place to begin in my opinion. Crash Man offers a glimpse at what we'll see throughout the adventure with enemies that move slow and don't really have much in the way of stopping power. I also think it's important to get Rush Coil as soon as possible which we will when we deal with Crash Man. And this boss battle is pretty much the same as it ever was. Lure him around then up, and blast away while avoiding his bombs. Honestly, it's pretty much what you'd expect if it wasn't for the music that ranges from okay at best to oh my goodness. Instrumentation aside, Dr. Wily's Revenge already set the blueprint with remixing old tunes. Whatever you're doing here, it's not working, especially on that part before the boss music loops. Oh my goodness, indeed. Finally, even though we're off to a good start, this won't be a no-damage run of the game. I mean, that's a lot to ask for after returning to the Blue Bomber after nearly a year, right? Never mind that this whole run was recorded in May 2021. Oops.
