FLAMING SNAKE by Claudia De Sabe. How I pushed through a disappointing painting.

In this video you can see all the steps I took while painting for the first time on rice paper, and how I encountered difficulties in this first experience. I used rice paper, Japanese brushes and fw liquid acrylic inks (I know, totally not traditional Japanese!). The way that I generally paint, which is by layering watery pigments over and over, did not play in my favor, making an already weak primer water down and basically disappear on me pretty fast! Sometimes the paintings we do, don’t fulfill our expectations in the outcome, but give us a lot in terms of knowledge and we need to acknowledge and appreciate that too! It’s up to us to not see it as a step back, and focus on the grand scale rather than on the micro....or so I need to remind myself! So enjoy my journey into this imperfect painting of mine, and how I still finished it regardless the struggle...by embracing the struggle I feel like a grew a little taller and wiser .
