This is all of the reed adjustment advice you will ever need .  Here is my low tech, extremely simple, super effective method for adjusting reeds. Forget ALL of the nonsense about the need to “break in” reeds, Call of the reed prep BS, all of the expensive, boutique reed adjustment tools out there. You don’t need any of that stuff. Try this out, and I can pretty much guarantee it will work If you start with excellent quality cane that 1) doest warp (very much), 2) has a big beautiful sound from the bottom Bb up into the extreme 4th register. As you sand more and more reeds, you will quickly an accurate feel for how much you need to take off based on how the reed is playing out of the box. Sometime you just a few very gentle swipes with the sandpaper and you can dramatically improve the playability and flexibility of a reed. When you get a really great reed, use it for a long time, become attached to it and it finally dies, and its not chipped or split, clip it a bit and try it. It might need a very slight drop of sanding after clipping to ease it up, but not always. There is a very good chance that you can get another 40-50 hours of playing time on it.
