I set the part up on the granite plate using shims because it wasn’t large enough, and we bolted it down securely. I also removed one corner, which doesn’t affect the machine but makes the setup more solid and rigid for grinding. When I indicated the surface, the setup checked out correctly. Most areas are at zero, but there is a small pocket of about half a thousand in the middle that returns to zero at the ends. The issue isn’t major, but there is some light scoring on the surface, which is visible as a gray area. I’ll send photos since it’s hard to capture clearly on video. I checked the flat as well. It’s generally close to zero, but there is about half a thousand of variation in places. There’s also minor marking and wear on the opposite side — nothing severe, just light scoring, likely less than half a thousand to a thousand. Because of this, I need to grind the surface. I’ll grind it the same way as the master side and likely touch up the opposite side as well to make sure everything is correct. I’ll use indicators during grinding so you can see the table movement and confirm the results. I’ll remove the bare minimum of material to keep costs down. If I’m already set up on the machine, grinding the flats should only take about 20–30 minutes. I’ll send pictures of the scoring and follow up with another video once it’s on the grinder.
