🕕 What Happened • On Wednesday evening around 6:50 PM local time in North Minneapolis, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and injured a man during a law enforcement operation, according to the Department of Homeland Security and local officials. • Federal officials describe the incident as beginning with a targeted traffic stop of the man — originally from Venezuela — identified as being in the U.S. without legal status. • According to DHS, the subject fled the scene in his vehicle, crashed into a parked car, and then escaped on foot. During the subsequent attempted arrest on foot, several people — including the main suspect and two others — allegedly attacked the ICE agent with a snow shovel and a broomstick before the agent fired what federal officials called defensive shots, hitting the man in the leg. • The man and the two others barricaded themselves inside an apartment afterward and were later taken into custody.
