This video gives you a short description of what to expect on stage during graduation at Stellenbosch University. How to carry your hood? Place your hood over your left wrist with the “V” facing the top of your arm. Clasp the loose end of the hood between your thumb and index finger. What to do on stage? When you make your way onto the stage hand your presentation card to the official and wait for your name to be read out. You will then walk to the person sitting behind the bench and bend forward to receive the “tap” on your head. Look slightly up and to your left so that the official photographer can capture the moment. From there, walk to the official standing further on; hold out your left arm so that the hood can be removed from the official. Turn to the audience with your back to the official, who will drape the hood over your shoulders. Look slightly to your right so that another photograph can be taken. Proceed down the stairs, collect your sheath and return to your seat.
