Add bay leaf, star anise, and cumin seeds. Let them crackle to release their aroma. Then add chopped ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté until fragrant and slightly golden. Step 2 Add one medium-sized chopped onion and cook until it turns golden brown. Then add one chopped tomato and sauté well until the tomato softens and blends into the mixture. Step 3 Add the spices: 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp cumin powder 1 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper 1 tsp garam masala 1 tsp Shan Dal Masala Mix everything well and cook the masala for a few minutes. Step 4 Add the soaked masoor dal and stir-fry it with the masala for a few minutes. Step 5 Add 2 cups of water, one chicken cube, and a small cube of butter. Mix well and let the dal cook until the water reduces and the dal becomes soft and flavorful. 🔥 Tarka (Final Tempering) In a small pan, heat a few tablespoons of ghee. Add sliced onions, green chili, and red chili balls. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown. Pour this hot tarka over the cooked dal for an incredible aroma and flavor.
