I think many new tatters are scared by the thought of the SCMR. I want to show you that in fact, it's not difficult at all and a very useful technique to have in your tatting "arsenal". Basically the self-closing mock ring is a CHAIN made on doubled up thread. And because it's a chain, you have the other shuttle available to make rings off this chain. So if you'd like a ring with other little rings all around it, the SCMR is the technique to use. In this video the SCMR has 5ds, R7, 5ds, R7, 5ds. There is a self-closing mock ring in the centre of the maple leaf that is my avatar.
