A DC Sabre from the early 70’s. This one bought off eBay cleaned up and fuelled up gave no problems on D1000 easy start. I am sure it would start easily and give more power on the D2000 brew. Slightly less ether and oil in D2000 and it would really sing. Over the years DC have had good and bad moments. For me, the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s was great. I do not think I have ever had a bad engine from this time. The late 70’s and 80’s things became a little more variable. This is an early engine. Its swinging a big prop for a 1.49 engine. If this were a glow engine, we would be looking at a 2.5 to 4.5 cc Glow Turning a 9 x 6 Propeller. Diesels can swing a larger prop as the compression and fuel mixture can be altered, not just fuel mixture. This is probably the largest useful prop 8 x 6 or 7.5 x 6 might be better on a Fast Model or Control Line Model. A 9 x 4 or even 10 x 3 , 10 x 4 on a Free Flight Sport Model or RC Assist. Quiet, economical, smells amazing. On eBay occasionally you can pick up a cosmetically challenged engine cheap. We picked up one for £12.87 once and it ran amazingly well but looked dreadful. This one is nice, great condition, almost new. The head and engine have a few marks from use, but its good at 50 years plus old.
