Dr. Kedar Mate’s keynote, “Designing the Future of Aging: Innovation, Equity, and Sustainable System Change,” will explore how healthcare institutions, community organizations, and public health leaders can use scalable, real-world solutions to bring to life a vision of age-friendly, equitable care. Drawing on his leadership in the national Age-Friendly Health Systems movement, Dr. Mate will share insights into how the 4Ms framework—What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility—is being adopted across hospitals, long-term care, and home-based services to better serve patients. He will also discuss how system redesign and community partnership can drive equity, and how we can ensure that new innovations don’t just reinforce the status quo but actively dismantle barriers to care. Other topics will include the evolving role of technology in aging—from AI and telehealth to digital engagement—and how these tools can be implemented with purpose and inclusivity. Finally, Dr. Mate will explore how we can support caregivers and cultivate a diverse, interdisciplinary workforce that’s equipped to deliver compassionate, community-based care. Throughout his keynote, Dr. Mate will spotlight real-world success stories and the growing momentum behind care models that prioritize dignity, choice, and wellness in aging. We will be left with a roadmap that centers equity, sustainability, and collaboration in shaping the future of how we care for older adults.
