Murthy, MD, is a neurosurgeon who specializes in peripheral nerve conditions of the upper and lower extremity including the surgical treatment of traumatic nerve injuries, nerve compression, nerve tumors, and nerve reconstruction for spinal cord injury. He is passionate about peripheral nerve surgery because it gives him the opportunity to really understand patients' functional goals and find ways to make a difference in their daily lives through a personalized surgical approach. As an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, he is involved in training medical students, residents and fellows in the Department of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Murthy's academic interests include nerve regeneration, peripheral nerve tumors, peripheral nerve imaging, medical education and health care delivery.
