In 2012 I set out with a camera and a backpack to tell the unknown story of a growing fitness subculture known as "freestyle calisthenics" in the USA, and "street workout" in eastern Europe. Even though the names were different, the effects were the same: it was a free form of fitness that was getting kids off the streets, out of gangs, and off of drugs by giving them a platform to express themselves and grow as individuals. But with no big names involved in the sport yet, I had no financial backing. So I focused on deepening my connections with the community and simple storytelling tactics to get to the heart of the movement - and thus the heart of the movie. That movie went on to win "Best of the Fest" at the Hip Hop Film Festival in New York and was distributed globally by RedBull TV.
