Welcome to a monochrome tour of the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. It was very hot and humid on that mid-September Friday with an approaching thunderstorm. The Bamboo Forest is located on the northwestern edge of Kyoto in Japan. Transportation to and from is primarily by bus, although a taxi or Uber ride could be options. The #11 city bus gets you to the “Forest” direct from downtown for only ¥230. It’s a 45+ minute ride with a lot of stops. The entrance to the Bamboo Forest is an unassuming path flanked by shops on both sides for maybe 50 meters. The higher than normal foot traffic meant we were on the correct route. Walking through the Bamboo Forest took about an hour total with several stops. Video equipment: Apple iPhone 14 Plus, DJI Osmo 6
