As promised, here is my video on how I tape my large piece count puzzles. In this video I go through how I decide what size to make the sections, how I separate the puzzle, how I flip the sections and finally, how I tape the back. Along with all that, I also offer some tips on how to do the best job with it. Here is a link to the tape I use in this video [Amazon Associate link]: Scotch brand multi surface masking tape https://amzn.to/41bZkep Steps and tips for dividing, flipping and taping the puzzle: Decide where you want to store your puzzle Figure out the dimensions (how many pieces high x how many pieces wide) for each section, so they fit in the place you will store it (e.g. a box) Divide the puzzle according to your chosen dimensions TIP: Remove pieces one at a time and line them up on top of the section that they need to re-attach to. TIP: Once separated, double check, either by counting pieces or using the other sections as a guide, that all of the sections are the right size. Do this before flipping or taping! 4) Get your tape, scissors and two sturdy boards. 5) Carefully slide a section onto a piece of foam board. TIP: Place the section into the centre of the board 6) Sandwich the section between two pieces of board TIP: Place hands flat on the top and bottom, in the centre, and apply pressure to firmly keep the section in place between the boards. 7) Flip the board over fairly quickly. TIP: Only flip ONE section at a time 8) Lightly rub hands across the section from the outside towards the centre, to make the pieces as close together as possible. TIP: Don’t be too heavy handed with this. 9) Pull out a length of tape, and by sight, measure it against your section to mark out the correct length. Mark the cut point with your thumb and cut as straight as possible with your scissors. TIP: Cut the tape, don’t rip. 10) Repeat step 9, moving down the section. Overlap each subsequent length of tape by a few millimetres. Keep as level as possible. TIP: If your piece of tape is too long, you can trim it with your scissors. TIP: Use the palm of your hand to flatten out any folds or bubbles in the tape. 11) Tape each end vertically (option: cover the whole section with vertical strips - not you will need more tape for this!) 12) Repeat “slide, flip and tape” method for every section.
