This is a play-through using Vold Ignitio in his original costume in the Arcade game Fighting Layer. Read on below for more information... Vold is the final boss in this game. He is a non-selectable character. ===== About Vold Ignitio ===== Vold is certainly a very interesting character, judging from his name and design, he is likely to be Spanish. His fighting style seems to be based on some kind of feline/cat. He has a rather interesting super move where he projects bullets at you from a firearm formed on his crotch. He has 2 forms. If you take a round off him, he will go into his 2nd form (if you have the game set on the best of 3). His 1st form has him in a one-footed prowling stance, and his 2nd form has him in a standing-zombie stance. He becomes much harder to defeat when he is in his 2nd form when controlled by the CPU. Besides the stance, I believe both forms are identical. In this video, I play through as much of the game with him using his default colour palette/costume. Surprisingly, he actually has 2 colour palettes despite being a non-selectable character. The choice of palette you choose for him affects the actual character. The 1st palette, his original dark costume (using P to select), will give you BOTH forms, but the 2nd palette, the white costume (using K to select), only seems to give you his 1st form. If you play through the game with his 1st palette, you will eventually freeze the game. However if you play through with his 2nd palette, it is flaw-free and you can complete the game. You can see the play-through with the white costume here: • Fighting Layer [Arcade] - play as Vold Ign... ===== Additional Information ===== ---- As mentioned earlier, he actually has 2 colour palettes. ---- As mentioned, his 2nd colour palette only gives him his 1st form. This makes it possible to complete the game with him. I think the reason for this is because he was originally planned to be a playable character... ---- If you play as him in his 1st colour palette in 1P arcade mode, the game will eventually lock up somewhere along the route. The reason for this is that I think the game gets confused with his 2 forms or the changing of the music for his second form. ---- Unlike the other bonus characters, his name actually appears on the character select screen. ---- There is no voice announcer for his name when selected on the character select screen. ---- Very rarely, the entire graphics will completely mess up when playing as him with his 1P colour. ===== About Fighting Layer ===== Fighting Layer is Arika's own 6-button fighting game with their own characters and designs, there are no original Street Fighter characters in this. The game plays somewhat similar to Street Fighter EX, but it's far more flexible as there are side-steps and dashes, and each character's basic moves are very different to each other. The game has many unique fighting mechanic features, such as the Hard Reversal and Super Elusion. Super Cancels are in too. There is also a move where you can cancel out of ANY move and fill your entire super gauge up, this can only be used once per round. Rather uncommonly for a fighting game, when you play in single-player mode, it actually plays your own character's music BGM mostly all the way through the game. The only stages where it doesn't is Stage 3 (against the Knight), Stage 6 (the animal sub-boss), Stage 7 (a hidden character), the Final stage (against Vold), and if you're good enough to reach him, the extra bonus stage (against the purple Knight). Overall this is a solid game with a decent soundtrack (as you would expect from Arika). Unfortunately due to the fierce competition from other fighting games around at the time, this never stood out. The game was published by Namco.
