Ilyas, a shop owner and resident of Mustafabad in northeast Delhi, said he witnessed a Hindu mob loot his shop and then destroy it with a bomb. But according to Ilyas, the police omitted crucial details in the first information report registered against his first complaint, including the use of an explosive and the names of the accused persons he had identified. Ilyas filed a second complaint, stating, "I had very clearly told the police officer that Anil sweet wala took out a bomb from a bag, threw it at my house.” But Pramod Joshi, the Gokulpuri SHO, dismissed the possibility—“how will a bomb be used over here?” he asked. In a video testimony, Ilyas recounted the attack and how the Delhi Police threatened to implicate him in a murder case if he pursued his case.
