The Effect of Gender-Based Violence in Conflict: Collective Trauma in the Yazidi Community

This event, hosted on March 26th, 2021, draws attention to the persisting use of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in conflict and provides a structured platform for experts in the field to publicly converse on the subject. Specifically, it aims to address the effects of GBV on the community level as well as its mental health implications. Concepts such as collective trauma and the urgent need for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) are explored. The case that will be discussed is that of the Yazidi community in Sinjar (Kurdistan, Iraq).
