This homemade blend is especially great for Jamaicans living abroad who miss the taste of home and can’t find our version of Maggi in local stores. 🇯🇲✨ This homemade blend is perfect for chicken, soups, stews, rice, and more — and it’s budget-friendly, and preservative-free. 🍲 Ingredients and measurements I started with: 2 tbsp salt 1 tbsp onion powder 1 tbsp garlic powder 1 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp paprika (for color and mild sweetness) 2 tsp black pepper 2 tsp thyme (dried) 2 tsp parsley (dried) 1 tsp turmeric ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat) 1 tsp ground coriander 1 tbsp pimento seed aka all spice 1 tsp MSG 1 Vegetable stock cube 1 tsp yeast extract powder or nutritional yeast (optional, for savory depth) ½ tsp citric acid or 1 tsp lemon zest (adds tang) Instructions: Mix all the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl. Transfer to an airtight jar or spice shaker.
