State Tools and Resources for Tackling Harmful Algal Blooms in CA

Presenter: Carly Nilson (Senior Environmental Scientist, Specialist) & Dr. Karen Odkins (Senior Environmental Scientist, Specialist) This presentation showcases the tools and resources offered by the California Freshwater and Estuarine Harmful Algal Bloom (FHAB) Program and the California Cyanobacteria and Harmful Algal Bloom (CCHAB) Network. The FHAB Program is a collaborative, interagency effort dedicated to protecting public health, animals, and the environment from the risks posed by harmful algal blooms. The program coordinates monitoring, response, and research activities, providing resources and collecting high-quality data to guide mitigation and management strategies that address the drivers of FHABs statewide. The CCHAB Network works to identify and understand the causes and impacts of cyanobacteria and harmful algal blooms across the state.
